Oracabessa Bay Fish Sanctuary

Oracabessa

Jamaica

Overview

Oracabessa Bay Fish Sanctuary is a protected marine area on Jamaica’s north coast, combining snorkelling and diving with a strong focus on conservation. Managed through a partnership involving the GoldenEye Foundation and local fishers, the sanctuary supports efforts to restore coral habitats and increase fish populations. Guided experiences allow visitors to explore the bay while learning about the work taking place beneath the surface.

Locally trained dive professionals connect visitors with the sanctuary’s marine environment, including its coral restoration programme. Snorkellers may also encounter sea turtles moving through the bay. Profits from the foundation’s dive services help fund marine conservation, giving an underwater excursion here a direct connection to the protection of Oracabessa’s coastal ecosystem and the community caring for it.
